Apprentice Placement
ApprenticeĀ placements are designed to be a win-win situation for the apprentice and theirĀ host company. For the apprentice the objective is to gain the necessary on-job experiences to fulfill the task competency requirements of their apprenticeship. For the host company the primary objective is to minimise risk and add value to the business.
Companies host ETCO apprentices for many reasons:
- Value to business during and post-apprenticeship
- Tailored apprentice placement arrangements to ensure availability of apprentices during busy periods and/or for the duration of key installations or projects
- More quality time for attending to core business activities thanks to ETCO management of apprenticeship matters
Apprentice placement is primarily determined by:
- The range of experience and type of work a host company can make available
- The projected workload of the host company
- Identifying the on-job skills from the qualification that can be covered while with a host company and allocating suitable time for the achievement of competency in those tasks. Placement with another host company may be required when and where any skills are unable to be provided for. Such placements cam be either temporary or permanent depending on the apprentice hosting plan agreed to by ETCO and the host company representative.
- A drivers licence and own transport to get to work
The preferred minimum placement period is three months and all placements exceeding three months are reviewed six monthly. Where an apprentice hosting plan is in place, ETCO and the host company will review the plan quarterly.
